Well the Ravens chances of winning on Sunday could increase a great deal if the Eagles top two receivers don’t suit up. We knew about Maclin who is dealing with a hip injury, but DeSean Jackson surprisingly sat out today’s practice with a hamstring issue. The severity of his injury isn’t exactly clear, but there is only one practice before Sunday so we should know more tomorrow. The Eagles are only missing Riley Cooper, so they could be in for a long day.
The Eagles do have a strong 3rd receiver in Jason Avant, but he has yet to take on a feature role. He has worked mostly in the slot in his career where he has fared well. After that, there isn’t much. Marty Gilyard could be next in line, but he didn’t catch a ball last year and was just re-signed two days ago. The only other guy on the roster listed at WR is Demaris Johnson, a rookie who has one career catch. Not exactly a ton of depth for Philly, but you can’t blame them with the amount of injuries they are going through.
There is still a solid chance at least Jackson suits up Sunday. He had no sign of injury until today, and may have been held out as a precaution. Maclin looks less and less likely each day, however. I will keep the updates coming as the week goes on.
