Former 7th round pick Anthony Allen was among the cuts Friday Night. Allen was buried on the depth chart all of last year behind Ray Rice and Ricky Williams. He struggled in the preseason and became expandable with the additions of Bernard Pierce and surprise Bobby Rainey. I was a big fan of the bruising Allen when he was selected out of Georgia Tech, but unfortunately who he couldn’t get it done in Baltimore.
Other cuts included LB Nigel Carr, LB Chavis Williams, S Omar Brown, DL Terrence Moore, DL Nicholas Jean-Baptiste, NT Ishmaa’ily Kitchen, OT Jack Cornell, WR Dorian Graham, and OG Cord Howard. WIlliams was a decent special teamer and Brown made some noise with three fumble recoveries in the preaseason. Unfortunately, that was not enough to stick on the hotly contested Ravens roster. Some of these guys could be practice squad bound.
Bobby Rainey appears to have cracked the final roster. He is a serious homerun threat out of the backfield, which he proved with some big plays in the preseason. Rainey is certainly a surprise, coming undrafted out of Western Kentucky and passing Damien and Berry and Anthony Allen to make the roster.
